Tre Corpi
Curated by Giuliana Benassi
29.05.2025 – 29.07.2025
D’ARC Foundation opens its programme of temporary exhibitions with Tre corpi (Three Bodies), an exhibition dedicated to the work of Lulù Nuti.
The exhibition presents a corpus of works, selected together with curator Giuliana Benassi, that engage in dialogue with the permanent collection, including three large installations, two of which are new commissions: I Fruitori and Hysteria. Lulù Nuti’s works often embody behavioural attitudes, alluding to possible interactions between sculptural and installation bodies, while allowing the vibration of the sculptural mass and its relationship to space to generate new interpretations and formal outcomes.
I Fruitori is a group of five sculptures, born from an experimental process within the Lazio Contemporaneo 2022 grant, in which humans and animals are both creators and participants (fruitori). Inspired by archetypal forms and composed of organic materials such as flour, yeast, water, broth, seeds, and blue food pigment, the works were placed for three days on the east quay of the Tiber Island, where they were subjected to the action of the local fauna. From the outcome of this construction/deconstruction process emerge the resin casts of the sculptures presented in the exhibition. Micro-projectors, placed inside them, project onto the Foundation’s walls recordings of what occurred in the space surrounding the organic sculptures during their stay on the island.
Hysteria is a large installation conceived as a prosthesis of the space in which it fits and made of stainless steel tubing, forged like iron. The work dialogues with the overhead crane above, recalling its industrial origin and imposing itself visually, while maintaining a mimetic quality with the environment. The “bipolar” ends, typical of Lulù Nuti’s research, show the double soul of the work, revealing two types of processing of the material.
The exhibition is accompanied by a publication produced with the Silvana Editoriale publishing house, curated by Giuliana Benassi.
