Born in 1974 in Warsaw, Aneta Grzeszykowska concludes the Foundation’s 2025 residency programme. 

The primary media Aneta Grzeszykowska works with are photography and film, both used as artistic and ontological exercises in research. Through the surreal act of sculpting selected organs from her own body and the use of tight photographic framing, Aneta deconstructs her image and manipulates the perception of her body, approaching the radical notion that self-creation is merely another imperfect means of confronting the mortal nature of the body. Breaking away from outdated schemes, faded frames, and post-Romantic and patriarchal ghosts, Grzeszykowska’s work maintains an unpredictability and heterogeneity that transcend binary identity possibilities. Her art connects the human with the technical, the organic with the synthetic, the masculine with the feminine, the seductive with the repulsive.

The artist will be in residence in July 2025.
